Director of New Jersey Black Alliance for Educational Options Talks Parent Involvement

Newark schools are struggling to regain control from the state. The district has a 70 percent graduation rate. Nearly half of all students are chronically absent. PARCC tests demonstrate that less than 20 percent are proficient in math. But there's special instruction to improve those statistics, not for students, but for their parents.
